How to Cut Fabric with a Silhouette Cameo & St. Patrick's Day Wreath

Ok, I just love holidays! Even if I don't go all out celebrating them every year. Nope - no St. Patrick's Day mantel or treats at my house! Bad craft blogger - I know. :) But I try to do something for each holiday. I did make Shamrock Cupcake Toppers last week {click HERE for the tutorial!}. I also made an easy, last minute St. Patrick's Day Wreath for my front door. I did it in under 30 minutes Saturday morning while my lovies slept in {"lucky" them!}. I took my polka dot birthday wreath {HERE} and upcycled it into this little number. Best part of my project? Cutting fabric with my Silhouette Cameo! Even bester part? I got a NEW CUTTING MAT! I've been cutting with an old, non-sticky mat {think painters tape being used to hold down my card stock! boo}. It was a DREAM cutting fabric with my new mat and my Cameo. Total dream. I cut this adorable white shamrock fabric into pennants for the banner on my wreath. On to the tutorial!

I am honored to be guest posting on Put a Bird On It today. 

SO thank you for having me :)

I am a registered nurse by day, with a HUGE passion for beauty and fashion. Ever since I could walk, I would play dress-up in my mom and aunts closets, prancing around in their high heels.

I grew up styling my friends from head to toe; giving fashion advice, helping with hair and makeup. It's what I LOVE! I love that just a "little somethin" can make someone feel and look like a million bucks! It makes my heart smile :)

And yes, over the years I frequently get asked, well why don't you do this for a living?

 I have come to realize life is just too darn short. God can take it away from us any second or any minute. I have always been a dreamer. And recently with the support of my AMAZING husband, I started the journey of blogging last summer, which gave me the courage to follow my dream and open up my very own women's boutique.
And I couldn't be more excited!!!!!!

Here I am today, 2 months away from opening my very own online boutique, Ginny Blues. Words cannot express my excitement! I am excited for so many reasons, but mostly to share with you all the amazing pieces I have. Allowing you all to buy fashion that is fabulous and affordable.

I picked each item from my heart, knowing if I wouldn't wear it, I wasn't buying it. If I wouldn't spend that kind of money, it wasn't going on my racks. And ya'll don't know me, but I am one fearless fashion bargain shopper through and through!

I cannot wait to dress you all :)

Today I wanted to put some fun and funky looks together for you. When it comes to style and fashion, be you and wear what you wanna wear. For this spring and summer, think outside the box.
 Mixing polka dots and stripes, leopard print and neons, T-shirts and tulle skirts, chunky necklaces and sweatshirts, stilettos and distressed denim, tie dye prints, big hair, and bright lips.
Like Marilyn Monroe says, normal is boring! :)

St. Patrick's Day Chocolate Cupcake Toppers

A couple weeks ago, I guest posted a holiday treat at My Paper Craze. Since St. Patrick's Day is just around the corner, I get to share this fun DIY with you! I made some super simple St. Patrick's Day chocolate cupcake toppers that would be a perfect addition to your holiday party, family dinner or treats to take to work!

Supplies

candy melts, green

shortening

wilton squeeze bottle

printed "stencil" paper

parchment or wax paper

{cupcakes, frosted & sprinkled}

Instructions

Melt candy melts according to package directions. Add about a tablespoon of shortening before melting. This helps make the chocolate creamy {otherwise, you risk getting lumps}.

Spoon melted chocolate into squeeze bottle. Prep stencil by placing a piece of parchment/wax paper over your stencil paper. {remember - your chocolate goes on the parchment/wax paper - not the printed paper}

Following the lines on the stencil, squeeze the chocolate onto the parchment/wax paper.

Today is my 6 year wedding anniversary. S - I - X. For reals? 6. What the crazy. I mean, I can't remember my life before him, but to say the word "SIX" sounds like a LOT. I remember when we first got married, a coworker told me she had been married for 5 years, and I thought, "WOW! You're old! That's such a long time." Now. That's me plus one more. Six years.

6 years is a lot to put into one blog post. In fact, I can't even do it. It would start with a story about a Tuesday night where I was wearing my "I traded my boyfriend for a sparkler" shirt and this cute american history major told me I could touch his KG's {those are basketball shoes, p.s.}, and somewhere in the middle would be a halloween at village inn ... lots of travels ... a little yellow house ... some crazy years of unemployment ... a whole lot of love ... and a little beautiful baby bundle. But, like I said, 6 years is a lot to sum up in a few paragraphs. What I do want to write about, though, is how amazing and trying and funny and crazy and hard and wonderful and perfect marriage is.
