I wish I could write a long post about Nelson Mandela...his life...his legacy, but I am sad to say I don't know very much about him. Only what Conrad has told me, which is enough to know he fought for equality of all people, democracy and learning. While on trial, facing the death penalty, he said:
“I have fought against white domination, and I have fought against
black domination. I have cherished the ideal of a democratic and free
society in which all persons live together in harmony and with equal
opportunities. It is an ideal which I hope to live for and to achieve.
But if needs be, it is an ideal for which I am prepared to die.”

The world has lost a wonderful spirit but his spirit has blessed so many others and has changed lives for the better.

Thank you. I don't know if in my lifetime another person will make such a profound difference in this world.
DeleteThank you for sharing. We need more positive people in this world who are willing to sacrifice for good.
ReplyDeleteI agree! We need to make sure our youth know about Mandela and that his legacy lives on. Take care.
