DIY Coffee Filter Garland ... Guest Post by Laura of Lovely Wren |
Hi Everyone! My name is Laura, and I blog about knitting, crafting and photography over at Lovely Wren. I've never done a blog swap before, so I'm thrilled to be trying it today for the first time. A big thanks to Daniela for having me :)
I've come up with a sweet little DIY coffee filter flower garland to share with you today. It's somewhat time consuming, but easy to do, and gives you beautiful results! I made it to hang over my corkboard and brighten up my apartment, but it would also be great for birthday parties, baby showers, bridal showers, or just about any kind of party!
First I'll talk about dyeing the filters, then I'll show you how to make the different styles of flowers I used, and finally I'll tell you how to the garland together. Ready? Let's dive in!

Not-So-Casual Outfit Look ... Guest Post by Kristy of Salty Mess |
1. Make your outfit POP: Try doing this by simply adding a striking color to your outfit or some chunky jewelry. This will make your casual look stand out. Never is a t-shirt and jeans look boring with this technique.
2. Makeup: Your makeup can do wonders with any outfit. Because whatever you do with your face can change the whole look, try to have your make up look a little more clean and chic and this can definitely make it seem like it took you twice as long to get ready.
3. Layering: This technique is fun! If you have a hard time figuring out what extra things you can add to your outfit and not make it look too messy, just follow your color pattern and chances are you will just do fine! Grab a bag, jacket, beanie, something to tie around your waist, have socks coming out of your shoes, etc. The possibilities are endless.
I hope you have read these techniques and now try something new out! Feel free to follow me and tag me in some of your new attempts. I would love to see :) Thanks for reading!

10 Ways to Show Your Husband You Love Him ... Guest Post by Danielle of Today's the Best Day |
Hey you guys! My name is Danielle and I blog over at Today’s The Best Day. It is SUCH an honor to be here on Daniela’s AMAZING blog… Put A Bird On It! I met Daniela just a few months ago at my very first Blogging Conference, Build Your Blog 2014 and we became IMMEDIATE friends! If you love her blog – you would absolutely LOVE her in person! She is just as fun, creative, kind and beautiful in REAL life! Thanks so much for letting me join you today!
Just a little bit about me – I am a wife to my High School Sweetheart and a mom to a miracle baby girl! My husband and I suffered with infertility for many years before we were blessed with our sweet Laila and she has truly made us the happiest people on earth! On Today’s The Best Day, I share daily deals, things to do, fashion tips and other tricks for our babies and marriages…as we strive to make EVERY day, the BEST day for our families!
My husband, Tyson, and I met when we were 15, started dating when we were 16, were married when we were 21 and have been married now for almost six years! I can honestly say being with him is just the best thing that has ever happened to me! Our marriage isn’t perfect and we both make mistakes, but getting through those challenges and learning from our experiences has made our marriage stronger.
My daughter loves the movie Enchanted. In the movie there is a song called “That’s How You Know.” Have you seen it? It is such a darling movie!! Some of the lyrics are as follows:
It's not enough to take the one you love for granted
You must remind her, or she'll be inclined to say...
"How do I know he loves me?"
"How do I know he's mine?"
Well does he leave a little note to tell you you are on his mind?
Send you yellow flowers when the sky is grey?
He'll find a new way to show you, a little bit everyday
That's how you know, that's how you know!
He's your love...

DIY Initials Etched Mug *Gift Idea* ... Guest Post by Sarah of Creative Ramblings |
Hey I’m Sarah and I blog over at Creative Ramblings. I’m excited to be here sharing a fun gift I created using my Silhouette. If you like what you see stop by and join me on my creative journey.
Earlier this year Little Lady and I were searching for the perfect gift for Daddy. She had 2 things in mind 1) he likes coffee and 2) he likes gum balls. Her original thought was to go to the mall and buy him a cup of coffee along with some gourmet gum balls from the candy store. Before we made that trip she spotted a bag of gum balls at Target and we happened upon a clear glass mug on clearance. Perfect gift for Daddy!
To dress the gift up a bit I decided to etch Daddy's initials into the mug using my Silhouette. Not really a project a 3-year-old can help with, but she did help in picking out the font and of course filling the mug with gum balls.
When I bought my Silhouette last year the glass etching kit was included! It wasn't something I needed, but I have used it several times and love it.

Strawberry Spinach Salad ... Guest Post by Ashlyn of Belle of the Kitchen |
Hi everyone! I'm Ashlyn and I blog over at Belle of the Kitchen. I am so very excited to be guest posting here at I Put a Bird On It! Daniela is one of my new bloggy friends and I have really enjoyed getting to know her. I always look forward to all of her fabulous posts and ideas that she shares with all of us! I mean, have you SEEN those adorable DIY Polka Dot Pants of hers?! If not, you should check them out! They are adorbs. ;)
Over on my blog, I share recipes for the whole family. Whether you’re looking for something healthy, something sweet, or even just a little comfort food to appeal to a picky eater, I’ve got a recipe for you. I'd love to have you come by and visit me over there!
Today I'm sharing a super delicious recipe for Strawberry & Spinach Salad, with a Homemade Poppy Seed Dressing. This makes a great side dish for almost any meal, and is even great by itself as a main dish if you add a little grilled chicken! The first time I made this, my husband kind of gave me the ole one-eyed stare and asked me what in the world strawberries were doing mixed in his salad. He wasn't so sure about the fruit, but after a few bites, his frown turned around, and now he loves it when we have this for dinner! Which is good, because we have it pretty often. ;)

How to Keep the Spark Alive in your Marriage ... Guest Post by Amberly of Life with Amberly and Joe |
Hey everyone, I'm Amberly! You will usually find me blogging at Life with Amberly and Joe (where Daniela is today). I love to write about finances in marriage, goals I set to be a better wife, funny moments we have as a couple and everything else marriage. My goal is to inspire other wives to make an effort every day to make their marriage the best it can be. I want everyone to know that marriage doesn't always have to be about grown up responsibilities and big life decisions, you should take time to have fun with your best friend on a daily basis!
For the past few years, I have been pursuing a degree in Family Studies. I have a passion for family and marriage relationships and the things we can do now to prevent problems further down the road. Tradition, quality time and honesty/communication are some of the biggest contributors to healthy and happy relationships in my opinion!
This June, my husband and I will celebrate our three year anniversary! In a way, feel like we are still newlyweds but other times I feel like the excitement and newness of our marriage has worn off. Keeping the spark alive is important to me; I don't ever want to feel like my husband and I are just roommates, even though I do feel lazy in my marriage sometimes.
Weekly Date Night - Set aside a night every week to spend quality time with your spouse. Whether you go out or do something fun at home, have a plan that's different from your daily routine. Leave your cell phone at home or in your purse for a few hours, and really pay attention to each other. Dress up a little and treat the occasion as something special. It might even start to feel like you're back in the early stages of your relationship.

Double Chocolate Banana Bread ... Guest Post by Jana of Life Could Be A Dream |
Hey beautiful Put a Bird On It readers! I'm so excited to be swapping blogs with Daniela today! I'm Jana from Life Could Be a Dream (be sure to hop on over there in just a minute to see what Dani has cooked up for my readers!). I met Daniela last month at Build Your Blog Conference. She was the very first person I introduced myself to, and I'm so glad I did! She is an absolute gem and we became friends pretty quickly. We bonded over having kiddos about the same age, our mutual love for Chic-fil-A, and discovering fabulous new beauty products together.
One of the first things people learn about me is that I graduate from culinary school. I am a foodie times a million. I love creating new recipes, but most of all I just love to eat. Banana bread is way up there on my list of favorite foods. There are so many delicious ways you can make banana bread. My mom's original banana bread recipe is my favorite, but I love this blueberry pie swirl version as well.
Today's recipe is all about chocolate. I'm a sucker for it, and I'll eat it with anything. Especially in banana bread. Holy. YUM.

The Fashionista's Diary ... Guest Post by Ashley of Profoundly Ash |
Hi Dolls! :)
It's Ashley from Profoundly Ash! To start out, TGIF and Happy Weekend to you all!!
I am honored to be guest posting on Put a Bird On It today.
I am honored to be guest posting on Put a Bird On It today.
SO thank you for having me :)
I am a registered nurse by day, with a HUGE passion for beauty and fashion. Ever since I could walk, I would play dress-up in my mom and aunts closets, prancing around in their high heels.
I grew up styling my friends from head to toe; giving fashion advice, helping with hair and makeup. It's what I LOVE! I love that just a "little somethin" can make someone feel and look like a million bucks! It makes my heart smile :)
And yes, over the years I frequently get asked, well why don't you do this for a living?
I have come to realize life is just too darn short. God can take it away from us any second or any minute. I have always been a dreamer. And recently with the support of my AMAZING husband, I started the journey of blogging last summer, which gave me the courage to follow my dream and open up my very own women's boutique.
And I couldn't be more excited!!!!!!
And I couldn't be more excited!!!!!!
Here I am today, 2 months away from opening my very own online boutique, Ginny Blues. Words cannot express my excitement! I am excited for so many reasons, but mostly to share with you all the amazing pieces I have. Allowing you all to buy fashion that is fabulous and affordable.
I picked each item from my heart, knowing if I wouldn't wear it, I wasn't buying it. If I wouldn't spend that kind of money, it wasn't going on my racks. And ya'll don't know me, but I am one fearless fashion bargain shopper through and through!

Ginny Blues will be offering the most affordable, unique, and stylish apparel and accessories by the comfort of buying from your own home!

Today I wanted to put some fun and funky looks together for you. When it comes to style and fashion, be you and wear what you wanna wear. For this spring and summer, think outside the box.
Mixing polka dots and stripes, leopard print and neons, T-shirts and tulle skirts, chunky necklaces and sweatshirts, stilettos and distressed denim, tie dye prints, big hair, and bright lips.

5 Truths About Dating (When Married) + A Cookie-For-2 Recipe ... Guest Post by Pamela of Macdonald's Playland |
Hello everyone! My
name is Pamela and I am so excited to be here today! (Thank you to the sweet and beautiful Daniela for having me during
her special wedding anniversary week!) I am from southern California, am
happily married to my husband Scott, and am the proud mommy of a
beautiful 2-year-old girl named Lilly (with a son on the way, due at the
end of March! Just a few more weeks to go!) I blog over at Macdonald's Playland.
My blog exists
so I can share & hopefully inspire through my creative outlets and thoughts. I
share a lot of crafts/DIY (I have no fingerprints), home decor (my bedroom is all WHITE - yes..even with a toddler), party planning (I'm a crazy party planning lady), and it also
includes a smorgasbord (yes, I said "smorgasbord") of other things I
enjoy in life such as recipes (I'm always rumbly in the tumbly!),
fitness (or lack thereof), thoughts on marriage (TMI much?), and lessons
in mothering/parenting (usually it's my child teaching me things!) It
would be fun to have you join me as
I adventure through wifehood and mommyhood! I love writing &
sharing things that hopefully help & inspire fellow women, wives, mommies,
etc. to get through their own adventure...all while documenting my own :) And of course, I share a lot of adventures I have with my little family. We love Disneyland. Did you know I told my husband I was pregnant at Disneyland? You should read about it & watch the video. It was awesome, and he's so gullible.
.........So, back to our regularly scheduled program! In honor of Daniela and her hubby's anniversary week, I wanted to share a post about dating in marriage :)
I've found that dating, just as it was fun and essential during courtship, is just as essential and necessary in marriage. Finding that time to be alone with your spouse is so important. It's taking the time for the 2 of you. You both deserve it, and your marriage deserves it. I promise when you try to do it consistently, you can strengthen your marriage.
My husband and I are nearing our 5 year wedding anniversary in August, and we are celebrating our 13 year "dating" (since we met) anniversary in May. Through all this dating we've done in our 13 years together (that's a lot of dating!), I decided to share 5 truths about dating in marriage that I have learned along the way.
1. It's not always "romantic."
That's me and my blog in a nutshell!

DIY Home Remedy for Acne ... Guest Post by Lauryn of Ambiguously Me |
Hey there, Lovers! Lauryn here from Ambiguously Me.
Daniela is the cutest and asked me to guest post on Put A Bird On It
(psssst- stay tuned for a guest post from her on my blog!)
Well if you are anything like me, this winter is making my skin crazy!
All the dry air and cold is a recipe for disaster.
I of course have tons of face products at home
some of those including moisturizer and my Clarisonic,
but i am always going for more at-home treatments.
Making your own cleansers and masks at home
can be a relief knowing exactly what products are going into the mixture.
pampering your skin doesn't need to be expensive, or scary!
I made a quick go-to chart for 5 easy to do (only 2 steps!) recipes.
Have at em ladies!
Don't forget to moisturize after doing any of these at-home facials.
Many may think that moisturizing will cause more oil, leading to more acne.

DIY Blog How To for Blogger Platform ... Guest Post by Audrey of Miss Audrey Sue |
hi girls! i'm dang excited to be over here, guest posting for Daniela today! i was totally stoked when she emailed, asking me to do this. this is my first time "guest-posting"...haha so bare with me, mmk? eeeek!
okay, who the heck am i? i'm Audrey, and i blog over at Miss Audrey Sue. no, my middle name is not "Sue". i actually don't have a middle name at all (unless you count my maiden name), but you can read a little more about me here if you want. besides being a mommy to an 19 month-old-crazy-toddler-boy, and a baby girl on the way, i design blogs for the Blogger platform (custom & premade!), and i freaking love it. a lot of topics crossed my mind when thinking on what to write about today, but i kept coming back to a DIY blog design tutorial. something that i consider myself pretty good at, and something that people are always searching for, right? right.
i didn't want to just give you a standard "here's how you center your header" or "here's how you change your font" tutorial. i tried to think of something that you don't see a lot, and i finally decided on:
do you see what i'm talking about?
"HOW TO REMOVE THOSE ANNOYING DOTS AND DASHES AT THE BOTTOM OF YOUR BLOG"
(wow, so yea that was a lengthy title but oh well...)
do you see what i'm talking about?

DIY Explosion Box ... Guest Post by Becky from My Paper Craze |
Hi there! I'm Becky from My Paper Craze, a bloggy-duo that I enjoy with my partner-in-crime {aka Mom}. We love searching on Pinterest, as well as inventing and experimenting with our own ideas! Our blog goal is posting {REAL} crafts for {REAL} life, so be sure to hop on over for home décor, kids crafts, holiday inspiration and {MORE}!
I am super excited {and honored} to swap guest posts here today with Daniela! Two heads are always better than one, and I'm sure you'll enjoy the projects we have for you! Definitely stop by my blog {click HERE!} to see what Daniela's got going on!
Today I want to share with you one of my first and {favorite} paper crafts...
Not sure what an explosion box is? Allow me to give you a sneak peak... prepare yourself to be in awe {LOL}.
Isn't that cute? Imagine unwrapping an explosion box instead of a regular ole birthday card! You know what I love to use them for the most? Gift cards! You can create pockets in the sides to hold just about anything... we'll get to more of that later, though. So, does that pique your interest? Maybe you'd like to try out your skill at explosion boxes? Well, they are actually super easy, with or without a cutting machine!
Now, I will disclose that the above explosion box was created using the Scallop Explosion Box from the Silhouette Online Store. However, I've given you an easy template to follow to make your own by hand! Here's what you'll need:
-
Two 12x12 sheets of cardstock (the thicker, the better)
- One 12x12 sheet of patterned paper (to match the cardstock)
- Adhesive (a glue stick or glue gun will work if you do not have any scrapbooking tools)
- Embellishments, as desired
First step...

Embroidery Hoop Art ... Guest Post by Teresa of Crafty Wife |
Hello everyone, I am incredibly excited to be sharing a simple and colorful diy post here at Put A Bird On it! Daniela is so creative and I am so excited to be a part of her blog this week! My name is Teresa and I blog over at Crafty Wife, where I share my love of Disney along with simple and fun craft projects.
I had this idea in my head a while ago that I wanted a craft quote on the wall above my work space. Something that would inspire and motivate me whenever I looked up at it as well as bring a bit of color to my rather boring and white apartment walls. I decided to go completely out of my comfort zone and hand stitch a saying on fabric.
For this project I used:
I laid the computer paper underneath my sample fabric and traced the words on to the white linen with a pencil. After I was done, I went over the letters with a fine point sharpie.
- Sample fabric from Joann Fabrics
- Wooden embroidery hoops (1 - 6in x 6in, 2- 4in x 4in, 2- 3in x 3in)
- Embroidery Thread
- Pencil
- Fine point sharpie
- Buttons
- Hot glue gun
- Batting
I laid the computer paper underneath my sample fabric and traced the words on to the white linen with a pencil. After I was done, I went over the letters with a fine point sharpie.
Using a back-stitch, I traced the letters (by hand) with my pink embroidery thread. Depending on how long the quote is this part of the project can take a long time (it took me about three hours!). Once the quote was done, I decided to add a few buttons to bring out the green on my computer chair.

DIY Gold Dipped Candles ... Guest Post by Katelyn from Learning, Creating, Living |
Hello everyone, I'm so excited to be here at Put A Bird On It! Daniela is one of my very good blogger friends & I was so thrilled when she asked me to guest post on her blog. My name is Katelyn and I blog over at Learning Creating Living, where you can find easy & inexpensive diy projects, fun crafts & tasty recipes. Today I'd like to share with you a simple & easy diy project.
I purchased a package of emergency candles at the Dollar Tree. The package came with seven candles but sadly one broke in the making, who likes an odd number anyways? ;) I then used painters tape and taped the part of the candles I didn't want gold.

Bridal & Romantic Hairstyles for Valentine's Day ... Guest Post by Becky from Babes in Hairland |
Hi everyone and Happy Valentine's Day! I'm so excited to be guest posting here on Put a Bird On It. My name is Becky & I blog over at Babes in Hairland. I've been blogging for over 5 years, and as a result our blog has hundreds of hairstyle tutorials. We are all about hair, and having only girls, that means I get to do a lot of hair!
Our blog has a wide range of hairstyles (for babies and toddlers, to prom & bridal styles, and everything in between) and since it's Valentine's Day today we thought it would only be right that we share with you some of our gorgeous updo's and styles that are perfect for a wedding or a romantic night on the town!
Don't let some of the pictures deter you from trying these out. I'm not a professional stylist, so if I can do these, (and if you are a bit hair challenged) with a bit of practice you can do these too! Some of my tutorials are in video format, others are step-by-step pictures to show you how I achieved the look. Just click on the name of the hairstyle and it will take you right to it!
I actually was just messing around when I came up with this style - but it turned out great so I shot a video showing how we did it. I can totally see this at a wedding or prom.

Thanks, Carissa! I love all of those ideas. Especially the chalkboard print. I swoon over anything chalkboard. I wonder if that will ever go away?!
